"Say, Mattie," he said, leaning on the bar with his elbows, "what'dya think about taking me out on the dance floor for a jive, huh?" "Boy, would I!"
Audrey smiled softly over at Brennan. Even when he was a big shot, he had a soft side. Who's he kiddin'? He's just a big 'ole teddy bear. She laughed gently at her thought, taking another sip from her drink as she watched them head off to the dance floor.
"Don't you steal my dame away."
Her eyes flicked to Benji, smiling easily. "So, Benji." She started off, her elbow on the counter with her chin in the palm of her hand. "Everything copacetic?" She asked, perking a brow. It wasn't often that she got to talk to him without Mattie by his side.
"You're lookin' mighty spiffy in those glad-rags tonight, I might add."
[Skip Jess, he's a working, unless Benji's got something to tease him about lol]

{{Benji always has something to tease Jesse about XD but nah he can keep working atm.^^}}
As Mattie and Brennan headed off to the floor, there was another lull in the orders. Benjamin leaned against the back wall, pouring himself a few fingers and drinking it slow.
"So, Benji." He looked up at that, grinning across to Audrey. "Everything copacetic?" Benjamin chuckled at that, nodding. "Oh yeah. Everything's just ducky. Gotta be, you know?" he replied with a grin. He had to keep everything good for his daughter's sake. Couldn't afford for anything to go bad. But at that time, things were genuinely going good. He was happy with his life.
"You're lookin' mighty spiffy in those glad-rags tonight, I might add."
He winked at her cheerfully, crossing her arms. "Lookin' pretty ritzy yourself, Aud. Like a regular Sheba, you know." Eyes glancing off to the dance floor, he smiled a little as he saw Mattie dancing. "'Ppreciate you hangin' with Mattie, too. She could use a lady in her life sometimes."

"Boy, would I!" "Don't you steal my dame away."
"Well, come on, then. Let's hop to it." Jumping from the seat, taking Mattie's hand, he shot a glance over his shoulder to Benji. "No promises, buddy. She's one heck of a girl." With that, he easily swooped Mattie up by her hands, spinning her around and making his way to the dance floor at the same time. But he was talented like that.
Motioning to the band to take the tempo up a notch, he kept hold of the little girl's hands, engaging in an upbeat dance with the rest of the guests there who weren't either playing cards or drinking. He liked being in the epicenter of the energy of the room. Everything radiating around him, but not circulating around him. Rising, swirling. Everybody feeding off of it. That's what made this place special. That's why they had to be here.
